Kiwi Kids News

 New Zealand has recorded its warmest winter on record.

For the three months from June, July and August 2021, the average temperature was 9.8C, according to New Zealand’s National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA).

This is a huge 1.3C above the long-term average and higher than the previous record set in 2020.

Kiwi Kids News

Today on  Kiwi Kids news I read this article which was about the Mars rover AKA Perseverance. It has a drilling system that drilled through a little Mars rock and collected a small finger finger sized sample of the rock and this is the first sample of Mars rock that NASA will get if it gets back to earth safely.  Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover - NASA Mars

Current Events

 Paralympian Sophie Pascoe has got a bronze medal in the women's 100 m backstroke. Pascoe, the world record holder in the event, was leading at the 50m turn and looked like claiming her 10th gold medal.However, the Kiwi was unable to maintain that pace. In the end she finished third behind American Hannah Aspden and Nuria Marques Soto of Spain.

Current Events

 Today I read about the the Paralympics swimming event. Kiwi swimmer Sophie Pascoe has won the first swimming sliver medal for NZ after placing second after being beaten by Ireland’s Ellen Keane in the 100 m SB8 Breaststroke Classification. She was out-touched by just .39 seconds.
