Yusra was afraid of water but all her other friends could but she slowly got used to the water and started to swim, she was also being trained by her older sister. The government was shooting and starting wars which had reached their neighborhood and destroyed their house meanwhile her cousins were planning a trip to Germany she set off with them. They secretly crossed borders somehow  avoiding the police. When they met their smugglers they waited for the coast guard to look away they loaded them on the boat a few minutes later they got

Cought and were taken to a refugee camp. But they soon slipped out and carried on they got back on the boat and soon the engine was spluttering Ysra had to do something so she and four others got into the water and started to swim Yusra pulled the boat while swimming with one arm and two legs they soon reached land and they reached Germany. She heard of a swimming club and started going there. She also heard of a olimpys 100 meter swim she came fist.

In Queens town There is a place called I fly which is an indoor sky diving experience.

We got ready to go in, but I was very scared there was on big fan at the bottom to keep me in the air they swooped my down and straight back up about three times.

I really enjoyed the experience.

My poem

As soon as I saw the moon up close I would have felt over the moon to be the first man to step on the  moons surface. When I took the first step it felt like a huge trampoline with volcanoes every where.

Book Week in schools.

Book Week in schools.

This week was Book week. There was a play performed in our school
hall on Tuesday.

The play was about the Treasure Hunt that has been written
 by Craig Christie.

There were two tribes living on a Island. These two tribes blamed each other for stealing each others songs.

The Treeland tribe was led by George and the Seaview tribe was led by Jess short for Jessica. These two characters teamed up to solve the problem about the lost treasure which was their song.

the problem was solved when they were able to put the torn map together and work out how to get to the treasure. They had to read three different books to solve the problem.

I really enjoyed this play because both of the characters

The other topics we learnt about were insurance, borrowing and lending , identity theft mortgage , trust and saving money.

Our tutors were Ema, Jane and Matt from price water house and cooper

I enjoyed all the sessions because the activities were very exiting and practical. 

Kiwi sport.

Today the senior school had it's first kiwi sport session for this term.

 Ben , from Auckland Badminton taught us some badminton skills. We used a Badminton racket and a shuttle.

We learnt how to hit the shuttle using a fore arm hit and back arm hit. Ben also taught us how to hold the racket using different grips.

I felt very exited at the thought of badminton.

I will first take the 9 and the 6 and put it together and it = 15  and then i do 70+20 and it is 90 . Finally i put together 500 + 200 and it = 700.  700+90+15= 805. 

Today Glenbrae  had  an ANZAC day assembly. All the teachers had prepared a presentation about ANZAC day some were poems as well. We learned a lot about ANZAC day from them.

I felt amazingly interested.

I had an amazing Ester Friday me and my family went to MOTAT the MOTAT Acronym is museum of travel and technology. For children There was a holiday program me and my sister    did It in one day it was a scavenger hunt on the piece of paper were pictures of what you have to find. Every level you complete you get a badge. There were 5 levels to complete.

I overjoyed it. 

Hooray its the end of this term

Today is the last day of term one.
I did well in speaking confidently with others and with a large audience .
I need to work on my writing and maths.
I will do a lot of writing and math at school or at home or when ever I get time to do it.
I felt overjoyed because of all my supportive friends helped me when I am stuck.

KIWI SPORTS (TENNIS)

Every Tuesday we had tennis lessons our coach 's name was Peter. I learned how to play one on one the hard part was that you have to let it bounce once on your side before you can hit it back to your opponent's side.

I enjoyed my self very much.    

I had a very fun weekend! Me and my dad got out our dji spark. You  might be wondering what it is, well is a drone. It is not just a ordinary one. One of the things I like about it is that it has a built in camera so it can record were ever you fly it. We flew it in our back yard. I really enjoyed flying it.

I felt exited and also a little bit worried that I don't crash into anything. 

Duffy role model assembly  Yesterday Glenbrae had it’s Duffy role model assembly.
Our role model was Sam James  Verlimden. He is also known as Sam V Sam V is
famous as a musician , song writer, singer and actor.

Sam spoke to us about importance of books and reading because he felt  that these

were the things which helped him become a successful musician.

Sam studied at the Auckland university  of technology and attended bachelor's
degree in communication.

We had a lot of fun because he  taught us a game called boomfa. This game
involves clapping after we played the game he gave out the books to each class.

I felt very excited when he was about to sing us his favorite song called "What you
have done for me".

Antarctica

Today I am very excited because we are going to the airport to fly to Santiago Chile. I got my bag and packed it. We loaded all our bags into the car and drove off to the airport. We found a parking space and off loaded all our baggage and went to check in. After that we went through security and waited at the gate. Our plane name was LATAM airways.   

When they announced that our plane was ready to board we found our seats I picked the window seat. After I had fastened my seat belt I looked out of the window and saw so many ground staff working such as filling fuel, guiding planes and people. We started taxing. Once we got to the runway the pilots started the engines at full throttle, and the plane zoomed down the runway, the plane went high in to the sky everything on the ground looked like a toy model at that height.


A couple of hours in to the flight we got pasta for our dinner it was very, very nice. After the meal I fell asleep. When I woke up it was breakfast time, after breakfast it was time to land. We were told that it is the afternoon of 21st in Santiago. It was like we traveled back in time using a time machine. From the airport we went to our hotel in the Santiago Airport and slept there.

HORSE

I woke up in the bright green grass with the sun shining on my hair. But my family were still a sleep. So I decided to go frolicking in the grass. While my family was still asleep.

While I was moving in the grass I saw some other horses eating grass too. And I got hungry so I started eating grass too.Then my family woke up.So I started feeding them.

I had a bath in the near by lake. It was a bright blue lake.the big shiny,sun shimmering on it.                                                                                                                                                                                                

Lily and the Snowman

There was this little girl named Lily who was making a snowman out of solid ice and BOOM, it came to life. He started making shadow puppets. The snowman was melting so the little girl put him in the freezer .

Next the girl started getting older and forgot about him. Then suddenly the lamp fell and the tea cup fell and then she got reminded about the snowman.

She grabbed her keys and coat and went straight to her old home and looked in the freezer. She looked worried about him. The snowman was so excited to see his best Friend come back after so many years.
 

water fun day

Glen brae school had water fun day there were 5 events the first one was walk the plank you had to walk the plank as fast as you can and when the other person returns get the cup fill it up and run to the big house bucket. Next was the 3 legged race you find a partner and The one on the right side gets the cup and runs. Try not to spiel to much water. The last activity was like there was 1 sponge and the person at the front dips it in the bucket of water   and passes to the next person above the first persons head . the pattern was under and over the last person ran as soon as they got the sponge to squeeze it in the house bucket.
